About Access Sheet Metal

What’s Different About Access Sheet Metal?

Access Sheet Metal is highly selective. Listed shops generally meet the following FIVE-Point Screening Criteria

  1. Minimum of 10 years in business
  2. $5 million in annual sales
  3. Profitable
  4. ISO or AS Certified Quality System (ISO 9000, ISO 9001, ISO 9002, AS 9000 or AS 9001)
  5. Currently supplies Fortune 500 companies

Access Sheet Metal helps you identify and screen the best sheet metal shops nationwide. Fewer than one in twenty sheet metal fabricators meet our screening requirements. Our goal is to help discerning manufacturers identify sheet metal fabricators that deliver in-spec, on-time, every time. We also help manufacturers locate the best regional machine shops via our sister site, Access Machine Shops. In either case, we only list high-quality metalworking shops. We believe costs associated with “out-of-spec” or late components exceed typical “low bidder” savings. It’s all about quality. Explore Access Sheet Metal’s Locations page to find sheet metal fabrication companies near you that invest in quality systems, quality equipment and quality people

Access Sheet Metal lists specialists in the following areas:

  • Precision: High-precision, CNC punching/stamping companies with CMM inspection and materials tracking
  • Production Manufacturing: Mid to high-volume production manufacturing suppliers of complex sheet metal products
  • Prototype Fabrication: Custom, prototype sheet metal component vendors for quick turn-around projects
  • Forming/Bending: Sheet metal bending, forming and general purpose sheetmetal fabrication shops utilizing latest generation CNC punching/CNC stamping equipment to create high-quality, precision sheet metal components
  • ISO 9000 Quality: ISO 9000/9001 (and AS9000/9001) certified quality management systems and quality control measures are in place

Fabricator Screening Criteria:

We generally follow the strict Five-Point Screening Criteria listed above. However, we may make exceptions to these criteria when we are unable to identify a sheet metal fabricator in a given region that does not meet these criteria. All company information is provided to Access Sheet Metal by the suppliers. We do not independently verify the information.

Fabrication Operations

Listed companies perform a wide range of sheet metal manufacturing services. Specific operations include CNC punching, CNC stamping, laser or plasma cutting, shearing and forming (rolling, bending and press braking). In addition to sheetmetal, shops also manufacture, form and bend precision shapes from wire, tube, plate and rod of various materials (steel, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium and brass). Shops also perform joining and welding (MIG, TIG and resistance welding) of sheetmetal products and large structures. Finishing operations include electroplating, anodizing, powder coating and painting. Services may also include engineering and sheet metal part design via 2D AutoCAD (.dwg and .dxf files), 3D Solid Models (SolidWorks and ProE) and Metalsoft. Sheet metal components can then be manufactured directly from 2D and 3D CAD/CAM files. In summary, each company serves as a precision-CNC sheet metal manufacturing company, sheet metal component supplier/vendor, fabrication shop and custom sheet metal prototype manufacturing company. These firms include ISO 9000 certified sheet metal manufacturers, large/high-volume production suppliers and smaller sheetmetal prototyping companies.
