Specialty Products and Manufacturing is a highly automated, ISO 9001 2000 certified sheet metal fabrication shop located near Dallas/Fort Worth, TX, serving customers nationwide. SPM offers contract sheetmetal fabrication services, laser cutting, welding, finishing, manual assembly, cnc machining, engineering/design services, production-scale manufacturing and quick-turnaround prototypes.
SPM has an extensive list of modern sheetmetal fabrication equipment including 3 MAZAK Laser Cutters (with automated loading/unloading), 8 Turret Presses (Finn-Power and Amada), 26 Press Brakes (mostly Amada) extensive hardware/fastener inserters (PemSert…), automated Quality Control systems/equipment (including a MetalSoft FabriVISION computerized vision inspection system and a 6-axis, robotic inspection workcell), 2 Kawasaki Robotic Welders and one Motoman Robotics Grinding Workcell. Welding capabilities include MIG, TIG, Spot, Stud and Heliarc Welding. SPM’s 20,000 s.f., environmentally controlled, fully-automated powdercoating line has overhead conveyor input and a 6-stage, automated cleaning/phosphate preparation sequence. SPM also has a sizeable machine shop with multiple CNC machining centers (with auto-tool changes), CNC milling, CNC turning equipment, surface grinders, etc. Modern inventory management methods are in place including Kanban, JIT (Just in Time), Build to Schedule and VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory).
Software utilized includes MetalSoft (FabriCAM, FabriWIN CAD/CAM and FabriTRAK Job Shop Control), 3d Modeling via ProE (Pro Engineer) and SolidWorks 2008 and 2D drawing via AutoCAD. Cad files are accepted from customers include AutoCAD Inventor, SolidWorks (2007, 2008 & prior), ProE and DXF, IGES, STEP files. Statistical Process Control (SPC) systems and software are in place for welding and other processes.
Diverse industries are served including electronics (precision sheetmetal components, electronic enclosures, computers…), test and measurement equipment, alternative energy (wind turbines, solar power panels…), telecom, military (defense, mil-spec), gaming (slot machines, video games…), kiosks (ATM’s…), medical equipment (instrumentation), oil/gas/petroleum and industrial supplies including light fixtures. Typical working materials include the cutting, bending, forming, welding, punching and machining of mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum sheetmetal, plates and some plastic sheets.
